The TTP223B Capacitive Touch Switch Module is a compact and sensitive touch sensor that acts as a digital input switch, replacing traditional mechanical buttons in electronic projects. Using capacitive touch sensing technology, this module detects human touch and outputs a digital HIGH or LOW signal, making it ideal for Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and other microcontroller-based systems.
Its ultra-thin form factor and low power consumption make it suitable for modern touch-based interfaces, smart home controls, and sleek embedded designs.
How It Works:
When a finger touches the active area (marked with a circle or pad), the onboard TTP223B chip detects the change in capacitance and triggers the output pin to go HIGH (default mode). When the touch is removed, the output goes LOW again. The module can be configured for toggle or momentary mode by adjusting solder jumpers on the back.
Specifications:
IC Chip: TTP223B
Operating Voltage: 2.0V – 5.5V DC
Output Type: Digital (HIGH when touched, LOW otherwise)
Output Drive: High up to 3mA, Low up to 8mA
Response Time: ~60ms (fast and responsive)
PCB Size: 15mm x 11mm (ultra-compact)
Touch Area: Marked pad on the front side
Mode: Momentary (default) – can be configured to toggle mode
Interface Pins: VCC, GND, OUT
Features:
Replaces mechanical push buttons with touch-based activation
Very low power consumption and long life (no physical wear)
Simple 3-pin connection, compatible with breadboards and jumper wires
High sensitivity and fast response
Can be hidden behind plastic or glass for invisible touch control
Applications:
DIY Arduino or ESP projects
Touch-based control panels
Home automation switches
Wearable electronics
Interactive art and museum exhibits
Smart furniture or lighting controls
Limitations:
Only detects human touch (won’t work with gloved or insulated fingers unless designed for it)
Not waterproof – use with care in humid or outdoor environments
Max output current is limited – use with transistor or relay module for high-power switching
May be triggered by strong EMI or when close to metal surfaces (use shielding if needed)
